Three people were killed in two attacks on Thursday targeting King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and an aircraft operated by Saudi national carrier “Saudia Airlines”, Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation said on Friday.

The first attack targeted airport facilities, while the second struck the aircraft, according to a statement posted on X by the authority. Emergency teams responded, and a number of citizens and residents of various nationalities were wounded.

The injuries ranged from minor to severe, the authority said. Those affected were taken to hospital, and the attacks caused material damage.

Airport operations have resumed and air traffic has returned to normal, officials said. State-run Al Ekhbariya TV reported that flights restarted at 6 p.m. local time (1500 GMT) on Thursday.

In a separate statement, “Saudia Airlines” said the incident damaged one of its aircraft while it was on the ground. No passengers were on board at the time.

The airline said one of its employees was killed and offered condolences to the victim’s family. Saudi authorities did not identify those responsible for the attacks, which came amid renewed fighting between Yemen’s government forces and the Houthis.
