A symbolic train departed from the Baku Railway Station of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC to the Kurdamir station today, marking a significant step in the expansion of the country's rail network.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Kurdamir railway station will be officially opened for passenger use starting April 18. Trains operating on the Baku–Gazakh–Baku, Baku–Balakan–Baku, and Baku–Aghdam–Baku routes, as well as the Baku–Aghstafa–Baku services scheduled for weekends and holidays, will now include a stop at the Kurdamir station. Ticket sales for these routes are set to begin on April 17.

The modernization of the Kurdamir station is part of Azerbaijan's broader strategy to enhance its transport infrastructure and improve regional connectivity. By integrating Kurdamir into major domestic rail routes, Azerbaijan Railways aims to provide more efficient and comfortable travel options for residents and visitors. This development aligns with the state's ongoing efforts to revitalize the national railway system, which serves as a vital component of the Middle Corridor, linking Europe and Asia through the Caucasus region.
