An explosion at a house in the Stanhope Street area of north Belfast early Friday prompted the evacuation of nearby residents, police said.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said officers were responding to a security alert and had established cordons in the area. A number of local residents were being evacuated.
Belfast City Councillor JJ Magee condemned what he called a “pipe bomb attack”, describing it as a reckless and dangerous act that had left the community in shock.
“Thankfully, no one has been injured,” Magee wrote on “X”.
Police have not provided further details about the cause of the explosion or the extent of the damage.
