Strong winds forecast for Baku and several regions

Yellow and orange warnings have been issued regarding the expected windy weather conditions in Baku, the Absheron Peninsula, and several regions of Azerbaijan from the afternoon of April 4 until April 6.

The National Hydrometeorological Service informed the Operative Information Center-OMM that a north-westerly wind is expected to prevail across the country. According to the yellow warning, wind speeds will reach 13.9-20.7 m/s in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, Nakhchivan, Kalbajar, Lachin, Dashkasan, Gadabay, Goygol, Ganja, Goranboy, Naftalan, Tovuz, Fuzuli, Zangilan, Jabrayil, Sheki, Oguz, Gabala, Goychay, Ismayilli, Shamakhi, Gobustan, Agsu, Khizi, Hajigabul, Salyan, Neftchala, Shirvan, Yevlakh, Mingachevir, Aghdam, Tartar, Barda, Jalilabad, Yardimli, Masalli, Lerik, Astara, Lankaran, Khachmaz, Shabran, Siyazan, Gusar, and Guba. Furthermore, an orange warning has been issued for Gazakh and Agstafa, where north-westerly winds are forecast to intensify to 20.8-28.4 m/s.

The National Hydrometeorological Service of Azerbaijan regularly monitors atmospheric processes to provide timely alerts regarding hazardous weather phenomena. Such warnings are categorized by color codes to indicate the level of potential risk to public safety, infrastructure, and transport. Residents in the affected areas are advised to exercise caution, secure loose outdoor items, and stay informed through official weather updates as the atmospheric pressure changes across the South Caucasus region.
