Strong winds expected in Baku and Azerbaijani regions

Wind speeds are expected to intensify in Baku and the Absheron peninsula on May 3, with similar conditions projected for various regions across the country on May 3 and 4.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the National Hydrometeorological Service has issued an official weather warning regarding the changing atmospheric conditions.

According to the service, a north-west wind will prevail in Baku and the Absheron peninsula. Meanwhile, a north-east wind is expected in Nakhchivan, Mingachevir, Ganja, Naftalan, Goranboy, Neftchala, Salyan, Dashkasan, Gadabay, Quba, Qusar, Khizi, Khachmaz, Shabran, Siyazan, Gobustan, Kalbajar, Lachin, Jabrayil, Fuzuli, and Zangilan. In accordance with the yellow warning level, wind speeds are forecasted to reach between 13.9 and 20.7 meters per second.

The National Hydrometeorological Service of Azerbaijan regularly monitors atmospheric changes to provide timely safety alerts for the public and relevant state agencies. Such seasonal wind patterns are common in the Caspian region, particularly in the capital, Baku, which is historically known as the "City of Winds." Authorities advise citizens to exercise caution near tall trees, unfinished buildings, and temporary structures during periods of high wind speed.
