The State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads (AAYDA) has issued an urgent appeal to drivers and the public regarding the integrity of protective fencing along the country's highways.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the agency highlighted that damage to roadside protective netting poses a significant threat to road safety.
"Protective metal fencing installed along high-speed highways and toll roads plays a crucial role in ensuring traffic safety by preventing wild and domestic animals from entering the roadway. However, in some instances, these nets are damaged or cut by individuals, creating conditions that allow animals to access the highway. This creates unexpected hazards for drivers and increases the risk of severe traffic accidents," the agency stated in its appeal.
The AAYDA urges citizens to be vigilant and report any instances of vandalism or damage to road infrastructure to the relevant authorities. Maintaining these barriers is essential for the safety of motorists, particularly on high-speed routes where even minor obstructions can lead to catastrophic collisions. The agency continues to conduct regular inspections and maintenance to ensure the safety of the national road network.
