Slovak President Peter Pellegrini has commended President Ilham Aliyev for his significant contributions to reducing tensions in the South Caucasus region.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Slovak leader made these remarks during a joint press statement with President Ilham Aliyev in the city of Shusha.
President Pellegrini drew parallels between regional stability efforts and broader international conflicts, noting that such diplomatic approaches are essential in the context of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war and tensions in the Middle East.
"Slovakia is in a position where we must increase efforts with our partners in Europe to boost defense supplies, while simultaneously not forgetting diplomatic solutions. We must put an end to war on our continent and develop our region," Pellegrini stated.
The visit to Shusha, the cultural capital of Azerbaijan, underscores the growing diplomatic ties between Baku and Bratislava. Shusha, which was liberated from occupation in 2020, has become a central venue for international diplomacy and high-level state visits, symbolizing Azerbaijan's commitment to post-conflict reconstruction and regional peace-building efforts.
