The Speaker of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) of Azerbaijan, Sahiba Gafarova, has met with her Armenian counterpart, Alen Simonyan, in Istanbul.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing Armenian media, that the information was released by the press service of the Armenian parliament. The brief conversation between the speakers took place on the sidelines of the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) currently being held in the Turkish city.
During the informal contact, the sides reportedly touched upon issues of mutual interest within the framework of the international event. This meeting follows a series of previous parliamentary-level discussions aimed at fostering dialogue between the two nations. The Inter-Parliamentary Union serves as a global platform for parliamentary diplomacy, providing a venue for representatives to discuss regional stability and cooperation.
