Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defense said the danger had passed in Riyadh on Tuesday, minutes after an emergency warning was issued without details about the nature of the threat.
The authority said a message from the National Early Warning Platform had alerted residents in the capital to a potential danger. It told them to go to the nearest safe place and stay indoors until the threat had passed.
Minutes later, Civil Defense issued an all-clear for Riyadh, urging residents to continue following its instructions and to avoid gathering or filming.
The alert came less than an hour after the authority announced that the danger had passed in the Eastern Province following a similar warning. It did not disclose the nature of the threat there.
Earlier on Tuesday, Yemen’s Houthi group threatened to target the headquarters of Saudi state oil company “Aramco” in Dammam, Riyadh’s main airport and the company’s refinery in Riyadh if the Saudi-led coalition attacked its sites in Sanaa.
