Intermittent rain is expected in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula on May 17-18, according to the National Hydrometeorological Service. Operative Information Center-OMM reports that some areas of the peninsula may experience short-term intense precipitation and lightning during this period.

In the regions of Azerbaijan, unstable weather conditions are forecast to persist until the evening of May 18. Operative Information Center-OMM noted that precipitation is expected to be intense in various locations, with the possibility of lightning and hail. In eastern regions, the rainfall may strengthen by the evening of May 16, while snow is predicted for high-altitude mountainous areas.

Authorities have warned that the heavy rainfall may lead to a significant increase in water levels in rivers, with a risk of short-term flash floods in certain mountainous regions of Azerbaijan. The National Hydrometeorological Service, operating under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, regularly issues such alerts to ensure public safety and to prepare agricultural and infrastructure sectors for seasonal weather shifts common in the Caucasus region during the spring months.
