Qarabag have denied reports that they are seeking to sign midfielder Renato Sanches. The club’s press service said the reports were inaccurate.
“If there is any official news, the public will be informed through the club’s official information channels,” the statement said.
According to the reports, the 29-year-old midfielder, who is currently without a club, was willing to accept a significant pay cut to restart his career. The reports said Qarabag had offered him an annual salary of 450,000 euros and that he was open to joining the club. Qarabag has not confirmed those claims.
Renato Sanches won the European Championship with Portugal in 2016 and received the Golden Boy award that year. During his career, he has played for Benfica, Bayern Munich, Lille, Paris Saint-Germain, Swansea City, Roma and Panathinaikos. Frequent injuries have hindered his ability to maintain a consistent career.
