Prime Minister Ali Asadov has extended his condolences to the Prime Minister of Northern Cyprus, Ünal Üstel.
This was reported to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the Cabinet of Ministers.
It was stated that on August 31, Prime Minister Ali Asadov sent a letter of condolence to Prime Minister Ünal Üstel regarding the loss of life caused by a ship accident that occurred near Kyrenia.
In the letter, the Prime Minister expressed his deep sorrow and offered condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims, as well as to the people of Northern Cyprus, while wishing a speedy recovery to those injured.
It should be recalled that the ship accident off the coast of Kyrenia resulted in 8 fatalities, while 237 people were rescued. Among those rescued were two citizens of Azerbaijan. Search and rescue operations for the remaining 19 missing passengers are currently ongoing.
The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, located in the eastern Mediterranean, maintains close cultural and historical ties with Azerbaijan. Such expressions of solidarity underscore the diplomatic relations and mutual support between the two nations during times of crisis and national tragedy.
