President Ilham Aliyev has shared a post on his official social media accounts regarding the successful conclusion of the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku, Azerbaijan.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the head of state emphasized that WUF13 has made history as the largest World Urban Forum ever organized, drawing a record-breaking 60,000 participants. This major event represents the second-largest international gathering hosted by Azerbaijan, following the successful delivery of the COP29 climate summit in Baku.
"We congratulate all participants, partners, and the UN family, especially UN-Habitat, on a successful and result-oriented WUF13," President Ilham Aliyev stated. He noted that the Leaders Segment, introduced for the first time at Azerbaijan's initiative, provided significant political momentum to the global urban agenda. The forum concluded with two landmark documents: the Chair's Summary and the Baku Call to Action.
Highlighting Azerbaijan's extensive post-conflict reconstruction, President Ilham Aliyev added: "As a country that has suffered from urbicide, culturicide, and ecocide, Azerbaijan is currently rebuilding 9 cities and hundreds of villages from scratch in Garabagh and East Zangezur. We are proud of the strong international recognition of Azerbaijan's post-conflict reconstruction efforts, which serve as a valuable model for other post-conflict contexts globally."
