President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan received Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on September 15.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Hakan Fidan conveyed greetings from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the head of state.

President Ilham Aliyev thanked him for the greetings and asked him to convey his own greetings to Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

During the meeting, the sides emphasized that Azerbaijan-Türkiye relations based on brotherhood and strategic alliance were successfully developing in all areas. They also noted with satisfaction that cooperation was being further strengthened on the basis of the “one nation, two states” principle.

They discussed the importance of cooperation in the energy sector and exchanged views on new routes to international markets in the field of alternative energy.

The meeting also highlighted the countries’ significance in logistics and their role as an important bridge between Europe and Asia. The importance of coordinating activities within international organizations was also noted.

The sides exchanged views on prospects for bilateral relations, regional issues and other matters of mutual interest.

Azerbaijan and Türkiye maintain close political, economic and security ties, with cooperation spanning energy, transport, trade and regional connectivity. The two countries have described their relationship as a strategic alliance rooted in historical, cultural and linguistic links.
