President Ilham Aliyev meets with Armin Laschet in Munich

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with Armin Laschet, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Bundestag, in Munich on February 14.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that during the conversation, the previous meetings between the head of state and Armin Laschet were recalled with satisfaction.

Armin Laschet extended his congratulations to the head of state on the achievements made in Washington regarding the advancement of the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia. President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the congratulations, noting that achieving peace is of great importance for the overall development of the region. The meeting also touched upon Azerbaijan's initiatives for regional peace and cooperation.

The discussion highlighted the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Germany across various sectors, including political, economic-commercial, energy, and other fields. The parties emphasized the significant role Azerbaijan plays in European energy security and exchanged views on expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation and the prospects of bilateral relations. Furthermore, the role of Azerbaijan in interreligious and intercultural dialogue was underscored, with both sides noting the importance of sharing this experience on an international level.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference (MSC), a premier global forum for debating international security policy. Since its inception in 1963, the MSC has served as an essential platform for high-level diplomatic discussions, bringing together heads of state, ministers, and experts to address pressing global challenges and foster international cooperation.
