President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with the President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Nechirvan Barzani, in Munich on February 13.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that during the conversation, the sides recalled Nechirvan Barzani's previous visits to Azerbaijan and his meetings with the head of state with satisfaction. It was noted that these high-level interactions have created significant opportunities for discussing the future prospects of bilateral cooperation.
President Ilham Aliyev and the head of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq exchanged views on the development of relations in economic, trade, cultural, and humanitarian fields, and discussed various issues of mutual interest. During the meeting, the head of state extended an official invitation to Nechirvan Barzani to visit Azerbaijan, which was accepted with pleasure.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, a premier global forum for debating international security policy. Azerbaijan continues to strengthen its diplomatic and economic ties with regional partners, emphasizing its role as a key player in Eurasian energy and logistics corridors. Such high-level engagements are part of Baku's broader strategy to diversify its international partnerships and foster regional stability through economic integration.
