President Ilham Aliyev has sent a letter of congratulations to the President of the Republic of Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, on the occasion of the country's national holiday.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Azerbaijani leader extended his sincerest congratulations and best wishes to the President and the people of Senegal on behalf of himself and the people of Azerbaijan.

"I believe that we will continue to make joint efforts towards the successful continuation of friendly relations and cooperation between Azerbaijan and Senegal, both bilaterally and multilaterally," the letter stated. President Ilham Aliyev further wished President Bassirou Diomaye Faye robust health, happiness, and success in his endeavors, while wishing the friendly people of Senegal lasting peace and prosperity.

Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Senegal were established in 1996. The two nations maintain active cooperation within international frameworks, particularly the United Nations (UN) and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Senegal's Independence Day, celebrated annually on April 4, marks the country's transition to sovereignty from France in 1960, and Azerbaijan consistently engages in high-level diplomatic correspondence to strengthen ties with African partners as part of its expanding foreign policy outreach.
