Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev has sent a letter of condolence to the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, following a tragic coal mine explosion in Shanxi province.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the letter expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life and injuries caused by the incident. "We were deeply shocked by the news of the loss of life and injuries resulting from the explosion at a coal mine in Shanxi province. On behalf of myself and the people of Azerbaijan, I extend my deepest condolences to you, the families and loved ones of those who perished, and the friendly people of China, and wish a speedy recovery to the injured," the letter stated.
Azerbaijan and China share strong bilateral relations, characterized by mutual respect and cooperation across various sectors, including energy, trade, and infrastructure development within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. Diplomatic gestures of solidarity during national tragedies underscore the close partnership and diplomatic ties between Baku and Beijing.
