President Ilham Aliyev has shared a post on his official social media accounts to commemorate the 34th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide, one of the most tragic events in Azerbaijan's history.

The commemorative post honors the memory of the victims of the massacre committed by Armenian armed forces against the peaceful Azerbaijani population in the town of Khojaly. The official statement serves as a reminder of the nation's collective grief and its commitment to ensuring that such atrocities are never forgotten by the international community.

The Khojaly genocide occurred on the night of February 25-26, 1992, during the First Garabagh War. During the attack on the town of Khojaly, 613 people were killed, including 106 women, 63 children, and 70 elderly individuals. Azerbaijan continues to seek international legal recognition of the event as a genocide, with numerous countries and international organizations already having officially recognized the massacre and condemned the perpetrators.
