Relations with Central Asian countries remain a key priority for the foreign policy of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev emphasized this commitment while addressing the informal meeting of Central Asian and Azerbaijani heads of state.
"It is sufficient to look at the dynamics of mutual visits from the beginning of 2023 to the present day. Over the past three and a half years, I have visited the brotherly countries of Central Asia 16 times in total. My colleagues have visited Azerbaijan 26 times during this period. This statistic clearly speaks to the dynamics and closeness of our relations, and also demonstrates that today, Central Asia and Azerbaijan have already become a unified geopolitical and geoeconomic space," President Ilham Aliyev stated.
The head of state also noted that he is participating in the consultative meeting for the first time as a full-fledged member of this format: "I want to assure you that Azerbaijan, for its part, will make every effort to further develop cooperation and bring our countries and peoples even closer together."
This diplomatic engagement underscores the strengthening ties between Baku and the Central Asian region, which have intensified significantly in recent years. The cooperation encompasses various sectors, including energy, transport, and logistics, particularly through the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, which connects the economies of Central Asia to European markets via Azerbaijan.
