On March 9, President Ilham Aliyev made a phone call to the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing the Press Service of the President, that the head of state strongly condemned the recent missile attack carried out against the territory of the Republic of Türkiye and expressed his full support for the brotherly Turkish people.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his gratitude to the President of Azerbaijan for the phone call and for the firm position shown by the neighboring country. During the conversation, the leaders emphasized the unbreakable bond between Baku and Ankara, reaffirming their commitment to the "one nation, two states" principle.

Azerbaijan and Türkiye maintain a strategic alliance characterized by deep historical, cultural, and political ties. This relationship was further solidified by the Shusha Declaration signed in 2021, which elevated the bilateral relations to the level of an official alliance, encompassing mutual defense and security cooperation. Such high-level communications are frequent between the two capitals, reflecting the coordinated efforts of both nations in addressing regional security challenges and fostering stability in the South Caucasus and beyond.
