The people and the state of Azerbaijan, guided by the cherished legacy of the "One nation, two states" principle, demonstrated solidarity and stood by brotherly Türkiye during those decisive moments, as they always have.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, this was stated in a letter from President Ilham Aliyev to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan regarding the "Democracy and National Unity Day":
"All of this once again confirmed how strong and unshakable the brotherhood and unity of our peoples are.
I am confident that the strong Azerbaijan-Türkiye friendship and brotherhood, which is a gift passed down from generation to generation, will further strengthen, and our strategic alliance will continue to develop on an upward trajectory and be enriched with new content through our joint efforts."
The "Democracy and National Unity Day" in Türkiye commemorates the resilience of the Turkish people in defending their democratic institutions. The relationship between Azerbaijan and Türkiye is widely regarded as a model of bilateral cooperation, characterized by deep historical, cultural, and political ties. This strategic partnership, formalized by the Shusha Declaration, encompasses extensive collaboration in energy, defense, and regional security, serving as a cornerstone of stability in the South Caucasus and beyond.
