President Ilham Aliyev addressed the current state of relations with the European Union during a joint press conference with German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the head of state highlighted the significance of recent high-level diplomatic exchanges. "This year, we have witnessed visits to Azerbaijan by both the President of the European Council, Mr. Costa, and the President of the European Commission, Ms. von der Leyen. These visits carry profound political significance. This will further strengthen the relations between the European Union and Azerbaijan," President Aliyev stated.

The European Union remains a key strategic partner for Azerbaijan, particularly in the energy sector, where the Southern Gas Corridor plays a vital role in European energy security. Relations between Baku and Brussels have intensified in recent years, focusing on energy cooperation, regional stability, and the normalization of relations in the South Caucasus, with both sides expressing a commitment to deepening their multifaceted partnership.
