President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva visited the Jabrayil district on May 9 to participate in the opening ceremony of the newly reconstructed Shukurbayli village. During the visit, the head of state and the First Lady inspected the facilities at a new 360-seat school building and private residences, engaging with residents who have recently relocated to the area.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev presented house keys to the residents and congratulated them on their return. The itinerary also included a review of the construction progress at the 150-bed Jabrayil District Central Hospital. Additionally, the President inaugurated the 330 kV "Shafag" substation in Soltanli village, a key energy infrastructure project managed by AzerEnerji OJSC.
The reconstruction of Jabrayil is a central component of Azerbaijan's "Great Return" program, which focuses on the comprehensive redevelopment of territories liberated from occupation. The initiative involves building modern "smart villages," restoring critical utility networks, and establishing social infrastructure to ensure the sustainable resettlement of former internally displaced persons in the East Zangazur and Garabagh regions.
