President Ilham Aliyev and President of the Slovak Republic Peter Pellegrini delivered statements to the press in Shusha on July 14.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the leaders highlighted the deepening strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Slovakia, focusing on both political and economic dimensions.
President Ilham Aliyev emphasized the successful development of bilateral relations, noting that Slovakia is actively participating in the reconstruction of the Garabagh region. He specifically highlighted the "Smart Village" project currently being implemented by a Slovak company in the Aghdam district. The President further noted that the two nations have established a strong strategic partnership, with cooperation expanding into energy, trade, and defense sectors.
In his statement, President Peter Pellegrini expressed gratitude for the invitation to visit Shusha and underscored that the relationship between the two countries transcends standard diplomatic ties. He noted that the strategic partnership is being translated into concrete projects, including the launch of direct flights and joint business forums. President Pellegrini also praised Azerbaijan's role as a regional stability guarantor and its significant contribution to European energy security.
This visit underscores the strengthening ties between Baku and Bratislava, which were formalized by a Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership signed in 2024. Slovakia's involvement in the reconstruction of liberated territories serves as a testament to the practical implementation of this partnership, which continues to evolve through high-level political dialogue and mutual economic interests.
