A serious road traffic accident occurred in the Hajigabul district, resulting in injuries to 28 passengers. The incident took place on the Baku-Gazakh highway, specifically in the section passing through the Mugan village of the Hajigabul district.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, a large-capacity passenger bus traveling on the Zaqatala-Baku route lost control and overturned. Emergency medical teams were immediately dispatched to the scene, transporting the injured to the Hajigabul District Central Hospital and the Shirvan City Central Hospital.
The Administration of the Regional Medical Divisions (TƏBİB) reported that the 28 injured individuals—comprising 12 men, 7 women, and 9 children—were diagnosed with various bodily injuries. Each patient received necessary medical care upon arrival at the hospitals.
Following medical assessment, 14 individuals hospitalized at the Hajigabul District Central Hospital (3 men, 3 women, and 8 children) were discharged for outpatient treatment as their conditions were deemed satisfactory. Similarly, 14 individuals hospitalized at the Shirvan City Central Hospital (9 men, 4 women, and 1 child) received medical attention and were subsequently discharged for outpatient care.
Authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the causes of the accident. Such incidents on major highways in Azerbaijan are subject to rigorous investigation by traffic police and relevant law enforcement agencies to determine liability and ensure road safety compliance.
