A Palestinian woman was killed and two people, including a girl, were injured in an Israeli airstrike on a residential building in Gaza City early Wednesday, sources said.

The body of Reem Asaad Awad, 33, and the two injured people were taken to Al-Shifa Hospital, a medical source told Anadolu Agency. The strike hit an apartment in the Rimal neighbourhood, causing extensive damage to it and nearby buildings. A fire broke out and was later put out by civil defence crews.

Witnesses said Israeli military vehicles and quadcopter drones opened heavy fire towards Palestinian homes in the Tuffah neighbourhood, northeast of Gaza City. Explosive devices were also dropped on Al-Sikka Street in the area.

Sources separately reported a large-scale demolition operation in which the Israeli army blew up homes in areas where its forces are deployed east of Gaza City.

In the central Gaza Strip, witnesses said Israeli military vehicles and bulldozers advanced beyond areas under the army’s control east of Deir al-Balah. Gunfire hit homes along Salah al-Din Street, causing panic among residents, but no injuries or deaths were reported.

Israeli artillery also shelled areas northeast of the Bureij refugee camp, while a drone dropped an explosive device on a tent. No injuries were reported.

At least 1,498 Palestinians have been killed and 5,306 injured in what Gaza’s Health Ministry describes as Israeli violations of the October 2025 ceasefire.

Since October 2023, more than 74,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 175,000 injured in Gaza, according to figures cited in the report. About 90% of the enclave’s infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed.
