The State Examination Center (SEC) conducted the general (9-year) secondary education level graduation exams across Azerbaijan today. The examinations took place in various districts of Baku, including Khatai, Narimanov, Garadagh, Surakhani, Sabail, and Pirallahi, as well as in Ganja, Samux, Yevlakh, Shamkir, Agstafa, Sheki, Lankaran, Astara, Yardimli, Aghdam, Aghjabadi, Shusha, Khankendi, Kalbajar, Khojaly, Ujar, Zardab, Shamakhi, Imishli, Hajigabul, Bilasuvar, Gusar, Siyazan, Khizi, and Shabran.

Statistics for the 9-year graduation exam

According to information provided by the State Examination Center to the Operative Information Center-OMM, a total of 207 exam buildings and 3,664 exam halls were allocated in the participating cities and regions. The management of the process involved 601 exam supervisors, 4,554 proctors, 670 security personnel, and 207 building representatives.

A total of 49,701 students were expected to participate in the session. Special provisions were made for 54 students with disabilities (including those with visual impairments, cerebral palsy, and hearing impairments). To ensure a comfortable environment, dedicated halls were assigned, and individual proctors were provided for students with 81-100% visual impairment. Accessibility measures were also implemented for students with limited mobility.

Rule violations and postponements

Due to adverse weather conditions, helicopter and boat transport to Chilov Island was suspended, leading to the postponement of the exam for three students residing there. New dates will be announced once conditions stabilize. According to preliminary reports, four students were disqualified from the exams after being found in possession of mobile phones; an investigation into these incidents is currently underway.

Additionally, several students faced difficulties due to improper documentation, such as forgetting original identification cards or bringing only copies. The SEC reminded future candidates that they must present both their admission ticket and the original copy of their identity document. Students whose IDs lack a photo must also provide a certified certificate from their educational institution with a 3x4 cm photograph attached.

Examination results and evaluation process

The processing of examination protocols and answer sheets will begin on April 6. As the evaluation of open-ended tasks requiring written responses is time-consuming, the final results are expected to be announced within six weeks. Participants were permitted to take their question booklets with them upon completion of the exam.

The correct answers for the closed and codable open-ended test items will be posted on the official website of the State Examination Center within the next 24 hours. In Azerbaijan, these standardized graduation exams serve as a critical component of the national education system, determining student eligibility for further vocational or specialized secondary education. The SEC, established to ensure transparent and objective assessment, oversees all major entrance and graduation examinations across the Republic.
