Italy head coach Roberto Mancini shared his thoughts ahead of the team’s UEFA Nations League third-round match against France. The game is scheduled for October 2.
Mancini said both teams were trying to adapt to new realities and that the match would be useful in that process. France is further ahead than Italy in terms of development, he said, making it a difficult encounter.
The Italian coach said it would be interesting to face players such as Ousmane Dembele, Michael Olise and Desire Doue. Jokingly wishing the opposing players a bad cold, Mancini said that would lower France’s level by several notches.
The coach stressed that his team did not intend to focus solely on defending. “We want to make a good impression. Our aim is always to play to win,” Football Italia quoted Mancini as saying.
