Araz-Nakhchivan lost 2-1 to Sumgayit in the eighth round of the Misli Premier League. After the match, the Nakhchivan team’s head coach, Yuri Maksimov, criticized the goals his side conceded at a news conference.
The Ukrainian coach said Araz-Nakhchivan had played well in the first half and should have tried to protect its advantage after taking the lead. He said the goals conceded were unacceptable.
Maksimov said the team should not be conceding goals like those. In his view, the players made mistakes in the second half as they tried to preserve their lead.
Context
Maksimov was appointed head coach of Araz-Nakhchivan on September 23. His contract runs through the end of the 2026-27 season.
