French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that preparations are underway for potential negotiations with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Macron made these remarks to journalists during his visit to the Haute-Saône department. The French leader emphasized that technical discussions regarding the meeting are currently ongoing.
Macron further noted that consultations regarding the talks are being held with European partners and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to the French President, these efforts are part of a broader initiative to establish security guarantees for Kyiv and prepare for future discussions on ending the conflict in Ukraine under the auspices of the so-called "Coalition of the Willing."
This diplomatic move comes as France continues to position itself as a key mediator in the European security architecture. Since the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine, Paris has frequently sought to maintain open channels of communication with the Kremlin while simultaneously reinforcing its support for Ukraine's territorial integrity. These potential talks are expected to focus on long-term stability in the region and the framework for a sustainable peace process in accordance with international law.
