On March 9, the United Kingdom's Minister of State for Europe, North America, and Overseas Territories, Stephen Doughty, held a telephone conversation with the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov.

According to information provided by the Operative Information Center-OMM via the MFA, the primary focus of the discussion was the escalating military tensions in the Middle East and recent security threats in the region.

The British side expressed serious concern regarding the Iranian drone attack against Azerbaijan, emphasizing that threats directed at the country's civilian infrastructure and the safety of its population are unacceptable. Minister Doughty reaffirmed London's support for the security and stability of Azerbaijan.

Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated that such provocative actions serve only to further increase regional tensions. He informed his counterpart that Azerbaijan is taking all necessary measures to ensure its national security and protect its territorial integrity.

During the telephone conversation, the sides also exchanged views on bilateral and regional cooperation, as well as other issues on the current diplomatic agenda between Baku and London.

The United Kingdom and Azerbaijan maintain a strategic partnership, particularly in the energy and security sectors. As a permanent member of the UN Security Council, the UK has frequently engaged in high-level dialogues with Azerbaijan to promote stability in the South Caucasus and address emerging geopolitical challenges in the broader region.
