Following severe flooding in the city, search-and-rescue teams found another body in Istanbul’s Eyüpsultan district, according to an official statement by the Istanbul Governor’s Office.
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports that the governor’s press service said the body was recovered around midday from a body of water near the Altın Boynuz Social Facilities.
Authorities identified the body as Ahmet Derin, who had been reported missing during the flooding, after identification procedures conducted by law enforcement and forensic experts.
The governor’s office said the latest discovery brought the total number of people killed in the disaster and severe flooding in Istanbul to seven. Search-and-rescue operations in the area have officially ended after authorities confirmed that no other people remained missing.
