Israeli forces entered the countryside of Syria’s southwestern Quneitra province on Monday and stopped construction work in the area, state-run Alikhbariah TV reported.
The broadcaster said six Israeli military vehicles advanced south of the town of Al-Rafid. Israeli forces also prevented residents from digging foundations for construction, it added.
In a separate incident, Israeli forces blew up an abandoned military barracks at Tal Harboun, near Beit Jinn in the western Damascus countryside, Alikhbariah reported.
Israel has expanded its military operations in Syria since the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime on Dec. 8, 2024. Its forces have advanced into the demilitarized buffer zone in the occupied Golan Heights and nearby positions.
Syria has called on Israel to withdraw from territories it occupied and reiterated its commitment to the 1974 disengagement agreement. Israel says its actions are driven by security considerations.
