Iranian officials have issued a stern warning, vowing a harsh response following a US military strike on Larak Island.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing a report by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), the statement was issued by Brigadier General Hossein Mohebi, a spokesperson for the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Hossein Mohebi characterized the incident as a "strategic and fatal mistake" by the administration of US President Donald Trump. According to information released by the IRGC, the attack on Larak Island resulted in the deaths of several military personnel and civilians.
The Iranian side emphasized that this action would lead to "serious consequences" for Washington. Details regarding the incident indicate that US forces targeted Iranian missile launch facilities located on Larak Island. This marks the first reported US military strike against Iran since US President Donald Trump halted a two-week military campaign in late July.
Larak Island, located in the Strait of Hormuz, holds significant strategic importance due to its proximity to vital international shipping lanes.
