President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received FIFA President Gianni Infantino on Sept. 29.
Operative Information Center-OMM reported that President Ilham Aliyev thanked Infantino for his support for efforts to develop football at the state level around the world, including in Azerbaijan.
The head of state said preparations were proceeding at a high level for the FIFA U-15 World Cup and festival for boys, which will be held in Azerbaijan for the first time next month, as well as for the FIFA U-20 World Cup for men, scheduled for 2027. President Ilham Aliyev emphasized the importance of Azerbaijan’s participation in these sporting events and expressed hope that they would contribute to the overall development of football in the region.
Gianni Infantino thanked the head of state for receiving him.
Referring to the significance of the FIFA U-15 World Cup and festival for boys, which will be held in Azerbaijan for the first time, the guest said the event would attract the attention of the global sports community.
The meeting also covered efforts to develop football in Azerbaijan and achievements in the field in recent years.
The sides noted the successful cooperation established between Azerbaijan and FIFA and discussed prospects for the partnership.
During the conversation, the support provided by the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) for FIFA’s activities was highlighted with satisfaction.
