President Ilham Aliyev expressed confidence that the official visit of Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs to Baku will create significant new opportunities for bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev made these remarks during a joint press statement on April 22. The head of state noted that during both one-on-one meetings and discussions involving wider delegations, the leaders reviewed various aspects of the bilateral agenda and exchanged views on pressing international issues of mutual interest.
Azerbaijan and Latvia maintain a strong strategic partnership, reinforced by a joint declaration signed in 2017. As a member of the European Union and NATO, Latvia serves as a key partner for Azerbaijan in the Baltic region, particularly in the fields of trade, transport, and education. This high-level visit underscores the commitment of both Baku and Riga to deepening political dialogue and expanding economic ties, especially within the context of Azerbaijan's increasing role in European energy security and regional connectivity.
