Azerbaijan and Ukraine mutually support and will continue to support each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity within all international organizations. President Ilham Aliyev made these remarks during a joint press statement with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the head of state emphasized the strong political foundation of bilateral relations. "Cooperation between our countries has a very strong political foundation. Two documents on strategic partnership were signed in Kyiv in 2008 and in Baku in 2011, and these are very strong political documents. Those documents reflect the issues of mutual territorial integrity, sovereignty, and the inviolability of our borders," President Ilham Aliyev stated.
The President further noted that diplomatic and economic engagements have intensified, highlighting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs consultations and the Intergovernmental Commission meeting held in Baku last year. During the current discussions, the sides exchanged views on holding the next rounds of these meetings in Ukraine. "In short, today we are successfully cooperating in many directions. This cooperation was confirmed once again today," the head of state added.
Relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine are characterized by a long-standing strategic partnership, particularly within the framework of international law and regional security. Both nations have consistently advocated for the principle of the inviolability of internationally recognized borders. This high-level meeting in Baku serves to further strengthen economic ties and political coordination between the two countries, which share common interests in energy security and regional transport corridors.
