İlham Əliyev: Azərbaycan və İran daim bir-birinin yanında olmağa davam edəcək

President Ilham Aliyev has responded to the expressions of gratitude from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian regarding Azerbaijan's support for the neighboring country.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the head of state shared his remarks on his official social media accounts. "The gratitude expressed by the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, my brother President Masoud Pezeshkian, for the support shown to the Iranian people and state is highly appreciated by our people. Our friendly and brotherly nations have supported each other for centuries, and we will continue to stand by each other in both good and difficult times," the post emphasized.

The exchange follows a telephone conversation on April 2, during which President Masoud Pezeshkian thanked President Ilham Aliyev for the humanitarian assistance provided by Azerbaijan. In response, President Ilham Aliyev stated that Azerbaijan's humanitarian aid to Iran would continue, noting that a new shipment of aid is scheduled to be dispatched in the near future. Expressing concern over the escalating situation in Iran, the Azerbaijani leader offered his condolences for those who lost their lives and expressed his hope for a swift resolution to the ongoing conflict.

The relationship between Azerbaijan and Iran is rooted in shared history, culture, and geography, with both nations maintaining significant diplomatic and economic ties. In recent years, the two countries have focused on regional cooperation, particularly in the fields of transport and energy, including the development of the International North-South Transport Corridor. This latest interaction underscores the strategic importance of bilateral solidarity in maintaining regional stability and addressing humanitarian challenges in the South Caucasus and Middle East regions.
