“The torrential and persistent rains of the last few hours have caused severe damage in many areas of our region. This night has been especially tough in Madrigueras (Albacete),” Sánchez wrote on “X”, the US social media platform.

Sánchez said the government was closely monitoring conditions and urged people to exercise caution and follow instructions issued through official emergency channels.
He expressed his condolences to the family of a woman who died in flooding and offered support and solidarity to residents affected by the disaster.
Flooding reported in several regions
The remarks followed weather warnings forecasting torrential rain and potentially damaging floods in eastern Spain in the coming days, as cold air aloft moves over warmer air.
Media reports on Friday said one person had died and 90 others had been rescued in flash floods in south-central and eastern parts of the country. Cars were swept away and homes inundated, the reports said.
