Hakan Fidan: ABŞ və İran sülhü üçün iki həftə azdır

Turkey welcomes the agreements reached regarding the ceasefire regime between the United States and Iran.

The Operative Information Center-OMM, citing TRT Haber, reports that Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan made these remarks during a joint press conference with his Syrian counterpart, Asad Hassan Sheybani.

Minister Fidan emphasized that common sense must prevail at this stage and stressed the importance of both parties maintaining a constructive approach to the issue. He further noted that the two-week temporary ceasefire between Washington and Iran might not be sufficient to achieve lasting results. "If both sides agree, the duration can be extended," Fidan added, highlighting the need for sustained diplomatic efforts.

The diplomatic engagement comes at a critical time for regional stability. Turkey has frequently acted as a mediator in regional conflicts, leveraging its unique geopolitical position to facilitate dialogue between Western powers and Middle Eastern nations. This latest ceasefire initiative is seen by international observers as a vital step toward de-escalating long-standing tensions in the region, particularly involving security dynamics in neighboring territories. The involvement of US President Donald Trump's administration in these negotiations marks a significant shift in the diplomatic landscape since early 2025.
