The regional landscape across the South Caucasus has changed, and Azerbaijan is the initiator of the peace agenda, President Ilham Aliyev having put forward the initiative.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President and head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration, made the remarks at the CAMCA Regional Forum.
He said Azerbaijan was demonstrating regional ownership and creating new political realities in the region, describing this as the result of strategic foresight. Economic and diplomatic connectivity is important for Azerbaijan, including renewable energy and transport links, as well as consolidating and safeguarding the peace achieved. “Uncertainty remains quite high in the region and across the world, and this is also happening in Azerbaijan’s immediate neighborhood,” Hajiyev said.
The South Caucasus is a region linking Europe and Asia, making transport corridors and energy cooperation important parts of regional diplomacy. The CAMCA Regional Forum brings together participants from Central Asia, Mongolia, the Caucasus and Afghanistan to discuss regional cooperation and development.
