First UK charges brought over 1994 Rwanda genocide

A Rwandan man living in north London has been charged with offences relating to the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, the BBC reported.

The Crown Prosecution Service said the case marked the first time charges linked to the genocide had been brought in the United Kingdom.

Charges linked to genocide and crimes against humanity

Dr Vincent Brown, formerly known as Dr Vincent Bajinya, 65, faces one charge of conduct ancillary to genocide and six charges of conduct ancillary to murder as a crime against humanity.

Brown is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
