Eleven hospitalized following mass food poisoning in Shamkir

A mass food poisoning incident has been recorded in the Shamkir region of Azerbaijan.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, 11 individuals were admitted to the Shamkir Central District Hospital after suffering from food poisoning following a meal at a local restaurant.

The individuals affected have been identified as Madina Ismayilova (born 1995), Sevil Jalilova (1994), Gulbaniz Jalilova (1973), Leyla Gurbanova (2007), Rufat Gurbanov (1999), Tura Dashdemirova (1999), Famil Isgandarov (1994), Aysu Abbasova (2015), Rukhsara Isgandarova (1967), Fatima Isgandarova (1999), and Rasim Shirinov (1999).

Preliminary reports suggest that the poisoning was caused by a salad consumed during a gathering. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact source of the contamination.

Food safety incidents, while relatively rare, are treated with high priority by health authorities in Azerbaijan. The Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan typically conducts thorough inspections of catering establishments following such reports to ensure compliance with sanitary and epidemiological standards and to prevent further public health risks.
