US President Donald Trump has expressed his gratitude to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan for their commitment to the peace agreement signed in August last year.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the US President shared these remarks in a post on the Truth Social network. Donald Trump noted that the recent war in the region was extremely severe and destructive, identifying it as one of the eight conflicts he has successfully helped to resolve. The President emphasized that the region is now entering a phase of peace and prosperity.
President Trump further highlighted that US Vice President JD Vance is scheduled to visit Azerbaijan and Armenia in February. The primary objective of the visit is to sustain the peace process and promote a new initiative titled the "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity." Additionally, Donald Trump mentioned that the United States plans to authorize the sale of American-made defense products to Azerbaijan, including body armor, boats, and other specialized equipment.
The diplomatic engagement follows a period of intensified mediation efforts led by the United States to ensure long-term stability in the South Caucasus. Azerbaijan has consistently advocated for a peace agenda based on the principles of international law and territorial integrity, focusing on the restoration and reintegration of liberated territories in Garabagh. The proposed "Trump Route" initiative is expected to focus on regional connectivity and economic cooperation, further solidifying the transition from conflict to regional integration.
