The Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Sergey Lebedev, has sent a congratulatory letter to President Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of Azerbaijan's Independence Day.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the message reads:
"Dear Ilham Heydar oglu,
Please accept my sincere congratulations on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
This historic day has become a symbol of the Azerbaijani people's unwavering will for independence and sovereign development.

The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) is a regional intergovernmental organization established in 1991 following the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
