China opposes “unilateral military actions” amid the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran, Vice President Han Zheng said in an address to the UN General Assembly on Saturday.
According to the source, Han urged countries to resolve disputes through dialogue and consultation, while rejecting military actions that violate the UN Charter or bypass authorization from the Security Council.
He called on major powers to assume “special responsibilities for safeguarding international peace and security” by complying with international rules, upholding the rule of law and acting responsibly.
China backs two-state solution
Han said China believes the sovereignty and security of Middle Eastern countries, including the Gulf states, must be respected. He also stressed the need to keep international industrial and supply chains stable and protect global trade.
On the Palestinian issue, he called for progress in governance in the West Bank and reconstruction in Gaza based on the principle that Palestinians should govern Palestine.
“The Palestinian question” should be returned to the track of a two-state solution as soon as possible, Han said.
Beijing calls for political settlements
Regarding Ukraine, Han said China would continue to play a “constructive role in its own way” in efforts to achieve a political settlement.
He also urged the relevant country to immediately end the use of force against Cuba and to completely lift the blockade and sanctions imposed on the country.
Call for inclusive technology development
Addressing technological progress, Han said the international community should adopt a people-centred approach and promote the positive development of artificial intelligence.
He also called for efforts to narrow the digital divide and ensure that technological and industrial transformation benefits people broadly.
