About 140 flights are expected to be cancelled on Friday at Brussels Airport because of a strike by ground-handling staff, the airport operator said on Tuesday.
Alyzia, which provides ground-handling services to around 20 airlines at the airport, will operate with reduced staffing as some employees join union-led protests against measures introduced by Belgium’s federal government, RTL Info reported.
The cancellations are expected to affect flights handled by Alyzia, including services operated by Brussels Airlines, the airport’s main carrier.
The FGTB (ABVV) trade union is organising a national demonstration on Friday as part of protests against the federal government’s policies.
The industrial action is also expected to disrupt public transport in Brussels, with services across the STIB network affected.
