The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan has issued a public advisory in response to forecasts of strong winds expected across the country on July 27 and 28.
According to information provided to AZERTAC by the Ministry's press service, the warning follows a report from the National Hydrometeorological Service, which predicts adverse weather conditions for the upcoming weekend.
In light of these forecasts, the Ministry of Emergency Situations has reiterated essential safety protocols for the public. Given that many citizens frequent beaches during the summer season, officials emphasized that swimming in the sea during high-wind conditions poses a significant risk to life. Furthermore, operators of small vessels are strictly prohibited from entering the water during such weather.
The Ministry also highlighted the heightened risk of fire during this period. With the current hot and dry weather conditions, strong winds can rapidly accelerate the spread of fires, making it critical for the public to adhere strictly to fire safety regulations. Citizens are advised to avoid open flames and exercise extreme caution in outdoor areas.
Additionally, the Ministry issued safety recommendations for urban environments, advising the public to stay clear of light-weight structures, temporary buildings, billboards, and advertising displays during high winds. Residents are also cautioned against standing under electrical poles, power lines, or tall trees, which may become unstable.
“Remember: Indifference to safety rules poses a threat to our lives! In case of danger, call 112,” the Ministry stated in its official appeal.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations, established to manage disaster response and public safety, regularly issues such advisories to mitigate risks associated with Azerbaijan's diverse climatic conditions, particularly during the peak summer months.
