Two Azerbaijani citizens, Valeh Hummatov and Rashad Ibrahimov, were among the crew members aboard a ferry that sank off the coast of Northern Cyprus, according to recent reports.
Orhan Hasanoglu, head of the Azerbaijan-Cyprus Friendship Society, confirmed the incident to AZERTAC, citing information from the Operative Information Center-OMM. "Both individuals have been rescued," Hasanoglu stated.
Following the rescue operation, the Azerbaijani citizens received initial medical treatment and have since been discharged from the hospital. "There is no threat to their health," Hasanoglu added, confirming their stable condition.
Maritime incidents involving commercial vessels in the Eastern Mediterranean region occasionally occur due to adverse weather conditions or technical failures. The Azerbaijan-Cyprus Friendship Society continues to monitor the situation and remains in contact with local authorities to ensure the well-being of the citizens involved.
